Calendar vs selection rules (special days)

Hi everybody,

I hope you can help me with this topic.

This is my scenario: my company has delegations in a lot of diferent regions (same country) where public holidays are different. Only regional public holidays are different. National ones are the same for all regions.

 

Until now, we have worked in the following way:

- We have only one calendar where all national public holidays are included.

- We have one selection rule for each region where we include only the regional public holidays.

When we assign the calendar and selection rule to one work schedule we reach the expected goal: having all the public holidays (national and regional) in the corresponding work schedule.

 

My question is:

Which should be the best solution?

- The one we are using until now? or

- Create different calendars for all each regions where national and regional public holidays are included?

 

In the past, we decided to follow the first solution as regional public holidays are not the same every year. For example: if one public holidays (12.10.2014) is on Sunday, the state decides to move it to Monday (13.10.2014). But maybe, the next year the public holiday is again 12.10.2014.

And we also realized that there is no possibility to change easily the calendars through the time.
